Violent Home Invasion Suspect Arrested In South Jersey

A Galloway Township man was arrested after he broke into someone's home and fought the person living there, authorities said.

Joseph Aversa, 41, was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, Absecon police said in a news release. Officers responded to a report of a home invasion on the 300 block of Spruce Street just before 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Investigators said Aversa broke into the home, threatened the person living there, and fought that person. The resident secured the door and forced Aversa out of the home.

Aversa was accused of breaking a window before leaving the home. Officers eventually arrested Aversa in Somers Point and he was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
